I’m using a Blackmagic DeckLink 8K card with Unreal Engine’s Composure, and I’ve followed all the setup instructions carefully. The issue I’m facing is that when I output the final composite through the Blackmagic Media Output, the image appears as a still frame on my external monitor.
However, when I preview the video inside Unreal, everything works fine—it’s only the Blackmagic output that isn’t updating.
What I’ve Tried:
Ensured the Media Output settings match the DeckLink’s supported resolution & frame rate.
Checked Blackmagic Desktop Video Setup to confirm the correct output format.
Verified that the Media Capture Component is active.
Tried different output formats (RGB 8-bit, YUV 10-bit, etc.).
Checked Unreal’s Output Log for errors but didn’t see anything obvious.
Updated to the latest Blackmagic drivers and Unreal Blackmagic Plugin.
Has anyone encountered this issue before? Is there a setting I might be missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hey, i had the exact same issue for weeks now and just went through the debugging gauntlet including fresh installs, different PCs and different cards.
WHAT ENDED UP WORKING was DOWNGRADING Blackmagic Desktop Video to 12.5.1 (picked it randomly and did not bother to try newer ones).
Uninstall Desktop Video
Shutdown your PC NO REBOOT
Start your PC after it was fully off for 5sec.
Go into Device Manager and Confirm the Card is not listed under Audio- Video thingy.
Find the Decklink card under Other Devices called either Decklink or Multimedia something.
Uninstall that device in Device Manager
Install Desktop Video 12.5.1
Update your Card when the software asks (Which i think is downgrading them technically)
Shutdown your PC NO REBOOT
Start your PC after it was fully off for 5sec.
Confirm your Card is shown in Desktop Video and adjust Settings for in/output
Should work?
This worked for us. We just finished debugging it. It’s 4AM and i am going home now.
Hope that helped, please confirm.
