In this tutorial, we walk through the complete process of optimizing a Mixamo character for automatic animation retargeting in Unreal Engine.
Auto retargeting was introduced in Unreal Engine 5.4 and takes all the complexity out of retargeting animations.
Please note: At the 33:47 mark in the tutorial, the Target Skeletal Mesh chosen was SKM_Manny, but it should have been SKM_Manny_Simple. SKM_Manny_Simple, which has fewer bones, is the rig which was uploaded from the Mixamo Converter to Mixamo and ultimately converted. Although the retargeting was successful, to be consistent, the SKM_Manny_Simple should be the target.
