[Community List] Free Software Tools & Resources List

http://www.123dapp.com/meshmixer - A mesh mashup tool from Autodesk, some pretty cool sculpting tools too
http://www.wings3d.com/ - I just found yesterday, now my all time favorite 3D modelling program - it’s the only one I am capable of making anything with
http://www.mit.edu/~ibaran/autorig/pinocchio.html - Auto rig meshes (with source code), would be good if could be turned into a simple UE4 plug-in (hint hint)

Also, apologies for not updating the list, I’m incredibly busy making my game and learning how to 3D model…I’ll try to catch up on thread soon…

That would be awesome  I saw a long time ago, and it still hasn’t been implemented anywhere (or maybe Mixamo uses ?) even if would be the best auto rigging solution available. I wonder why…
Here is a video demonstrating Pinnocchio: https://youtube.com/watch?v=EklzamltEgM

Thanks for posting the vid Slavq, it’s a really great tool. There are others too but I didn’t get a to test them. I’m thinking the reason it isn’t used commercially is because it’s open source - it’ll be pretty unethical to sell a service using open source tools.

The Foundery has realesed a non-commercial version of NUKE, the leading industry-standar composing tool with restrictions, but no watermarks.

automatic character flipbook creation by Fragmotion

Hi,
I forgot to mention a great of Fragmotion:
you can create sprite flipbooks automatically from animated characters!
here you can see the simple menu and an end result of my first tests:

the sprite arrangement is customizable, you can create it with or without shadows, position and size data are saved in an xml file.
unfortunately the alpha is saved wrongly, it requires some further works with photoshop/gimp…

Edit: the latter is GPU and driver dependent; in my case it was bad with Intel, but fine with ATI; and said to be wrong with some NVidia cards/drivers…

I can not download sculptris , I get error after I sign in “adress not found”(something like that).Do you have any problems or may be know how to fix it?

Thanks!

Take that up with the creators of sculptris. It is quite unlikely you would get an answer for that here. Hope it works!

A useful tool I have created for creating n number of blend textures between any two given textures.

It’s ok now,server was down.

Sorry for your confusion. Could you elaborate on what is confusing you?

Looking at the link, it says the cheapest plan is $20 p/m…Could you point me to the free plan please?

Edit: They’ve since added a free plan.

Since I didn’t see posted here, not sure if there’s like a ‘No Torrent’ Restriction or something, but when thumbing through forum I found the post linking to reddit for a 10gb royalty free soundpack. It’s got a ton of excellent sounds, a good majority are industrial / City / Sci-Fi focused, but there’s a ton of good clips for any game. [FONT=Comic Sans MS]How do i use the free version of l3td and/or terragen they both come out looking like

ndemon, I’ve not used l3td but that looks very much like similar problems I had in other landscape generate software when I didn’t set the bit order correctly in the export process (look for it in the export settings of whatever app you’re using).

another cool modeler i found is 3DCrafter Formally known as 3DCanvas can be found at Amabilis.com For any interested ppls! its kinda like wings3d but not as easy to learn. its like drag and drop modeling…

I tried to use the “FREE” edition of L3DT and well it is as you know FREE TO TRY… if you want to use any maps you make i suggest buying the indi license. its only like $40 and well worth it to have version 15 because that has a UE4 EXPORT option… and various options NOT in the Standard(FREE)Version.

It is not easy to make a map from the (FREE) version of L3DT work in UE4.

As I see in the following image it export (pov & rib) files… which UE4 does not recognize…!! OR may be I’m mistaken…

i guess they took out the .obj export. or moved it to the paid version srry.
