I was wondering if its possible to color the diffuse with a setting in the material editor?
For example in Cryengine your diffuse would be a desaturated version. And a layer can applied on top, in game to set the color.
This way you do not need a green, a red, a yellow or fine tune hue values. Instead it works like a photo filter in photoshop.
The upside is of course saving memory etc.
