Cloth Black Artifacts on Mesh

I’m working on a project at the moment and have made a cloth material for the tents and tarpaulin in my scene. However this issue (see below) appears frequently with any asset that has the cloth material applied. I’m wondering what can be done to fix the issue and if anyone can help?
Details: assets in image shown are planes with no intersecting geometry, so I am aware this isn’t a z fighting issue to my knowledge.
