Hello everybody!
I have just started using UE4 and have of course run into the first couple of babystep problems…
First of all:
My workflow starts with creating the assets in Cinema 4D. Texturing them, giving them all the UV tags they need and then I export as fbx.
Now. Here is the first problem that I run into:
When I import into UE4 it tells me two things:
a)
No smoothing group information was found in this FBX scene. Please make sure to enable the ‘Export Smoothing Groups’ option in the FBX Exporter plug-in before exporting the file.
Even for tools that don’t support smoothing groups, the FBX Exporter will generate appropriate smoothing data at export-time so that correct vertex normals can be inferred while importing.
and b)
“Face material index inconsistency - forcing to 0”
and this a thousand times (probably for each polygon in the scene I import)
Now about a)
If I first export the file as a .3ds and open it in 3Ds Max and then export it as a .fbx, I do have a possibilty to export smoothing groups and then everything is just dandy…
BUT I do not want to have to export everything first to 3Ds Max and then to fbx… How can I fix this? Anyone have an idea?
Thank you very much! I know that this question has been posed before on other forums but I just cannot find a proper answer…
