Cheapest Fog?

What is the cheapest to render fog in UE?
Is there something simpler than Exponential Height Fog?

You can go into the render settings under project settings and tell it to compute the Height Fog using the Vertex Shader. It will then perform fogging per vertex instead of per pixel which is a win if you have less vertices than pixels (which is usually the case for optimized scenes but not always).

Only working with the forward renderer though, right?

Ah yes good point, I forgot to specify that.

If you wanted to do it without forward rendering you could do it as a material function using the custom UVs, but you’d have to add it to each material in the game.
