Changing texture resolution on Import; is it possible?

Hi!

So, I want to make a game eventually, but one thing I have run into, is that I’m using the free version of CG Textures, and all their textures are odd sizes. Is there any way I can say, import a 640x640 res texture, and decrease the texture res to 500x500 in the process, or do I have to do it in something like Photoshop? If so, can you tell me how? Thanks!

You can use something like Gimp or IrfanView(both free) to resize textures, and keep in mind that you need to use power of two dimensions(256, 512, 1024, etc.)

Would Photoshop also work? If so how would I go about it? If you don’t know just, if you could, help me through the process of doing it on Gimp since I’ve never used it if that isn’t too much to ask  Also, would this just be resizing it or will it actually decrease the quality because thats sort of what I need for different quality options

Yep, it also works in photoshop:

When you shrink a texture, make sure to choose “Bicubic Sharpe” (dont know if that’s the right english expression ^^)

I’m gonna have to try to find the buttons since ya’know, different language, but thanks for the help, I shall probably post my results if it works

They should be on the same place as on the pic

Alright that seemed to work, just have to do this for most of my textures now, thank you so much for your help!

When you dont want to do it manually with every single pic -> ?v=t4NuW5ulrXE
