Changin agent radius causes navmesh to fail

I was told if I had trouble with AI getting stuck on corners to try and alter the agent radius under project settings-navagation system, however increasing or decreasing this value enough seems to not change my navmesh or my AI, and if I change it enough it stops my AI from moving at all. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem?
