Change lighting mode in material instance?

Is there a way to change the Lighting Mode in a material instance?

I want to be able to set material instances to either Surface TranslucencyVolume or Volumetric NonDirectional for transparent and opaque material instances based of the same master material.

Right now, I have two master materials — one for translucent and the other for opaque — which is twice the work/updates. One master material would be ideal but cannot figure out how to set the lighting mode in the MI (if this is even possible).
