Change in AO shadowing after migrating to UE 5.5

Hi, I’ve migrated my project from 5.3 to 5.5, and noticed a difference in the shadowing (I am only guessing this is AO) on my hero asset when close to surfaces. I am fairly new to UE, so I’m wondering if someone can point me towards what the source of this shadowing is and tell me if it’s something I can tweak. I definitely prefer the old look; as you can see the new version looks a bit sad in my particular project.

These are are taken in shadow from the directional light, although there is a skylight and sky atmosphere. There are no other light sources around. I am not using lumen or anything.

Just pointing out that I found the shadowing is from the skylight. The shadowing was tweaked sometime between 5.3 and 5.5. There are a few options to adjust it but nothing that will return the previous look. A shame because it looks outright worse in some cases.
