Can't run UEFN when VSCode is opened

Unreal Editor for Fortnite

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?

Other

Summary

That’s been a thing since urc diff coloring has been added, you need to close VSCode in order to start UEFN

Steps to Reproduce

Launch VSCode, try Launching UEFN (or maybe the other way around, it happens a lot though)

Expected Result

Should be able to run UEFN while VSCode is opened

Observed Result

Cannot launch UEFN

Platform(s)

PC

I believe this is tied to URC being considered a part of UEFN. With the recent additions for URC’s VS Code extension I think there is a process that is spawning that is being seen as “UEFN is already running”.

This kind of a finicky workaround but have you tried launching UEFN directly instead of through the epic games launcher? Someone had told me to pin a shortcut to uefn and it seemed to work pretty well, helped a lot around the start when opening fortnite would frequently mark uefn as already running

Ye I think that works but that shouldn’t be required

Yea I can’t disagree but a workaround is a workaround and to be fair I’m just used nowadays to launching uefn straight from my taskbar and not the epic games launcher since it’s faster.
