Can't launch if a texture has above 1024x1024 resolution as of v34.30

Summary

As of UEFN update v34.30, if any texture is displayed higher than 1024x1024 it won’t let me launch, this includes if its UI or Cinematic. Yesterday my game looked great and launched fine, I had textures imported from 8k and displayed to max 2048x2048, but as of the latest update all my textures look horrible. Even tested my game before on low graphics mobile, it looked great with great performance so I don’t know why this change happened.

This is the error message I get,
" This texture’s in-game size is too big. The maximum size is 1024x1024. Adjust the texture’s ‘LOD Bias’ property. "
I read the UEFN update, nothing about changing the max resolution to 1024x1024, I’m pretty sure before max was 4096x4096, but in my game I only use 2048x2048 max.

Steps to Reproduce

Import a texture that is above 1024x1024, it may need to be linked to a material that is within the level. It will tell you, This texture’s in-game size is too big. “The maximum size is 1024x1024. Adjust the texture’s ‘LOD Bias’ property.” If you conform texture it will fix but your texture will look terrible at 1024x1024.

Expected Result

Import any texture size, choose cinematic then change the max displayed resolution to 2048 there will be no errors. Yesterday this expected result occurred, as of update v34.30 max texture size I can do is 1024.

Observed Result

This texture’s in-game size is too big. The maximum size is 1024x1024. Adjust the texture’s ‘LOD Bias’ property.

Strange, I have a texture cube that is larger but works. Did you try changing the LOD bias as it says?

Yeah but it will max out at 1024x1024 which looks quite bad on low graphics, before the update everything worked fine at 2048x2048 and looked good.

Edit: I have other textures exactly like your 2048x1024 but they are not present in the level, for me if the texture is being used in the game it will give that error, and the only fix I can find is max resolution of 1024x1024

Mine maxes out at 2048 not 1024 and I use them in the level, is your texture a hdr or exr? I import as HDR and have no problems

every file type

He has it set to Cinematic maybe that has a limitation ?

I also have some 2048 and no issues but i use world/ui texture groups

I have this bug happening to texture groups ‘World’ ‘Cinematic’ and ‘UI’

Unsure

That’s an epic question i think they will be able to at least explain what’s going on

yeah it started happening since the latest update v34.30, though I only seen one other person encounter this issue in the Fortnite Creative & UEFN Official Discord

I also encounter this, this didn’t happen before, you could do at least 8K, you just had to set everything up correctly, but now everything has become super blurry

For texture cube maps, we made this change in 31.00 and haven’t changed the rules. You likely had this texture prior to our rules changing, and somehow, it was never run through validation after that. That’s odd though, since it should be force re-validated each time we release a new version of UEFN

Ah I see, so cubemaps max out at 1k?

I searched the news for update 31.00 but I can’t seem to find anything about cubemaps maxing out to 1024x1024

FORT-887595 has been ‘Closed’. This is working as intended by design.

When should we expect this problem to be fixed?

It isn’t getting fixed its working by design as you’ll have to tweak your textures
