Can't Install 5.8

Summary

I’ve had this problem with other versions before, and it’s frustrating. UE 5.8 just won’t install from the Launcher for me. I’ve tried on multiple computers in different physical locations, and it just isn’t happening. I had this same issue with 5.7 for several weeks until one day it just spontaneously worked, having done nothing differently. I’ve cleared my webcaches. I’ve diabled automatic updates. I’ve reinstalled the Launcher. I am at a loss.

I’d love it if someone could help. Thanks so much!

Additional Notes

This happened in 5.7 as well for several weeks until one day the problem disappeared spontaneously.

Are you on a hardwired connection on a local network? Did you change any of the options near that install tab? Does the network have any sort of limits set? I would go change some options add and remove some and see if that triggers the install button working.

Hi Vexar,

I’ve tried wired and also over WiFi. I didn’t change any options near the Install tab. My home network and office networks don’t have any limits set that I’m aware of. I also can’t install Fortnite nor Fortnite Editor (UEFN). They just say “Unavailable.” I have multiple other versions of UE installed. Like I said, this same thing happened with 5.7 until one day it just worked.

Did you solve the install issue of UE5.8, please?

I wish I did. I can’t install Fortnite nor UEFN either. They just say “Unavailable.”

I can install and run those, though many other items in Library are shown as unavailable. Most bizarre!

I am in contact with Epic Games Player Support about the UE_5.8 install issue, I will keep you updated.

Thank you so much!

I had this issue and tried all the cache clearing also, but then I noticed the install drive got reset to an odd drive letter in *Setttings. I set a different path to a valid drive letter and was able to install again. The drive letter might be getting auto set by the launcher.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately, it’s not this. I found out that this issue is affecting my entire organization, so I currently suspect that it’s an IT matter.
