cant get landscapes or cubes to texture

I cannot get landscapes or just a brush cube to texture properly in 4.3
I added layer info for the landscape to paint a landscape 3 layer material on it - nothing happens
I drag a material onto cube or landscape nothing -
i drag material onto the material box in the other editor - nothing

???

NEVERMIND after I rebuilt the light it started to work better
