Can't download Unreal for Linux, EULA accept page is stuck in an infinite accept loop

Summary

I’m unable to download Unreal Engine 5.8.2 for Linux because the website gets stuck in an infinite EULA acceptance loop.

Starting at:

I’m redirected to:

When I accept the EULA, the page refreshes and asks me to accept again. It never reaches the downloads.

What I’ve tested:

  • Two different browsers.
  • A second computer.
  • My phone using mobile data with Wi-Fi turned off.
  • A newly created Epic account, in addition to my original account.

Every test produces the same loop.

Network details:

DevTools shows this request when I click Accept:

POST https://www.unrealengine.com/api/cosmos/eula/accept?eulaId=unreal_engine2&locale=en&version=3

It returns HTTP 200 OK, with this response:

{"accepted":true}

Despite that, navigating to the Linux download page sends me straight back to the EULA check.

I contacted Epic Games support under case 26591599. They referred me to Epic Games Developers and said their team could not handle or transfer the issue. The download remains blocked.

Is anyone else experiencing this, and can someone at Epic get this report to the team responsible for the website’s EULA/download flow? If there’s an official alternative download route for the precompiled 5.8.2 Linux ZIP, that would also help.

I can provide screenshots of the network requests and responses.

I’ve been trying to download 5.8.2 since yesterday, but am running into the same issue. I also noticed that if I go to Account > Legal History, it shows that I’ve accepted the EULA there.

I have the same issue, I’ve tried on my laptop, my phone, my ipad, on different browsers, in incognito mode, on another network… but nothing seems to work :frowning:

Ah okay so it’s not just me. Sounds like they probably had an AI update something and it broke it and since everything is automated now days they haven’t noticed because the AI probably tells them everything is working fine in smoke tests so therefor it must be working and so they have zero awareness that a primary download link is in a EULA infinite loop. I really don’t want to go compile from source just to get the linux version, it will be so annoying if I have to do that.

Yeah I also don’t want to compile from source, so hopefully this gets resolved soon, I’m chatting with an epic support agent, but I don’t know if they’ll be able to help if it’s an issue that requires an update on epic’s end.

When I tried a support agent unfortunately they were useless and immediately told me to go to support and find documentation or use the forum. If this has been an issue since 5.8.2 released then we have a big problem on our hands because if it’s been broken for over two weeks, then they may not fix it for weeks or months at this rate.

The page seems to be loading now!

I have the same issue, had it yesterday as well

It’s fixed now for me. I suspect an AI agent saw the post and investigated and fixed it (or a human) or it was some temporary outage based on something else that is not resolved? The world may never know.
