Hi, I am newbie with UE, I am learning UE with youtube, forum and the offical document. But sometime when I try to follow the document, it’s scroll bar would disapper and my mouse scroll won’t work too.
I noticed this happen when I press something like ALT, TAB, or maybe the short cut ALT+TAB, I don’t know what exactly causing the problem, I also try using chrome, turn off all the plugin, turn off my anti-virus, but those not really solving the problem, did anyone encounter this problem too?
Hey there @potatosir6017! I’m unable to replicate the issue with the documentation myself. It’s likely something environmental. Is it all documentation pages? What OS are you using?
Hi, @SupportiveEntity good to see you again, I am using windows 11 22H2, I noticed this happen on all of the unreal site, not only the document page.
My anti-virus software is kaspersky, I tried disable it but still the website lost the scroll bar once I press alt, don’t know if that’s the problem.
This happend on edge, firefox, chrome, I didn’t test other browser, but I noticed sometime I can press the ALT, TAB button freely, but it would randomly showes up after I refresh the page or open another document page.
It happened to me often in the documentation and in the marketplace, on two different computers with Windows 10, although it hasn’t happened for a long time.
I did not actively do anything, they were windows 10, one with Kaspersky, another not, in chrome and I think in firefox.
Now with a new computer and kaspersky in chrome I don’t remember what happened to me.
I didn’t download kaspersky password manager, I also disable the password protection option inside kaspersky free’s option.
Well, the problem gone when I close the kaspersky software though, disable the four main protections is not working but completely closing the kaspersky is working.
I guess there are something causing the problem, but I can’t find out which is the one.
It could definitely be some form of security having an adverse affect on the site. If you determine whether it’s Kaspersky or some other network protection, let me know!
Hi, I am at company right now I did a few test and found out the problem might be something around VPN, WIFI, and kaspersky.
If I don’t use VPN with kaspersky, the page works fine.
If I use VPN without kaspersky, the page works fine.
If I use VPN and kaspersky in the same time, the page will have a chance lost the scroll bar once I press any button, it’s not only about alt or tab.
Disable the four main protection in kaspersky won’t fix the problem, turning off either the vpn or kaspersky will fix the problem, at this point I think there are some options inside kaspersky causing the problem, with the pre-condition of VPN turning on, but I don’t encounter this problem in any other website, I notice unrealengine scroll bar looked different compared to other website like youtube, google, forum.unrealengine etc.
I could also do the same test with my home wifi when I back to my home, to see if the problem also connected with specific wifi.
Good to know! It’s likely something messing with the page source and blocking the scripts, because the scroll bars on the docs sites are 2 fold. The scroll rail and the bar are different classes in the HTML at least. Thanks for the update!
It just happened to me right now and I just remembered that it happens to me a lot when I use the product search engine of the marketplace.
It happened to me with windows 10 and 11, with kasperseky and without kasperseky, and no vpn
The funny thing is that if you use the history, the previous ones also stop scrolling.
Could it be when browsing from a page that didn’t have a scroll? like search for “steam leaderboard”
Hmmm, even more interesting! As for me, that page does have a scroll bar (1440x1080)as there’s a blue disclosures bit at the bottom so something is definitely off, but it may not be Kaspersky in this case. There’s a ton of environmental possibilities when it comes to browsers and their displaying of webpages. I think I’m going to drop a note with the web team about this issue just in case they have any ideas.
Hi, In my case, the encrypted connections option in kaspersky is what causing the problem, when I tick this option and turn on my VPN, pressing any button on my keyboard would make the unreal engine page lost it’s scroll bar, maybe kaspersky or unreal engine web team should find out a solution on this problem.
