Buoyancy ignores waves amplitude - UE 5.4

Using both UE 5.4.3 and 5.4.4, i’m experiencing a very strange issue using the buoyancy plugin.

I started to notice some discrepancy between how my buoyance example BP reacted to the water on my desktop PC, so i turned on the water buoyancy debug and seems that the wave amplitude gets complitely ignored.

I moved the project on my laptop tho, and there is a totally different story!
There I get the results i was looking for with no edits. The strange aspect of this is that my scene is more or less a “default scenario”. I didn’t make any change to the water body, nor to the cube or boat examples i made. It’s all the same and quitely right out of the box.

Buoyancy on desktop works, but behave as it would do on a calm lake. Debug points don’t actually follow the water surface on both my machines; but on my laptop, objects follow the surface way better.

Last thing i tried is to update the engine to 5.4.4 on my desktop to maybe rewrite all the plugins files, but didn’t work.

Any epic senior out there that can reach out for some help? Can’t find any topic about this issue.

Hey, I had a similar problem and got some help from a Discord. My issue was that I was attempting to use the water body without any landscape, and to fix it I just created a flat landscape underneath my ocean. After that, my boat began reacting to the waves. I hope this helps!

I’m running into the same issue but we have a landscape. My bvoat is just behaving to a entirly different wave pattern then on screen. UE 5.4
