Something happened to me today that made me not ever want to work with Startups.
I lived that life for several years. In many cases, no matter how magical or fantastical or original or innovative their invention may sound, the reality is that, in many cases, many inventors are not able to translate their ideas with sufficient clarity for most people to even understand what they are taking about.
Think about Einstein or Tesla, when they were trying to describe some of the experiments they were working on. Outside of scientific or academic spaces, much of what they were talking about would probably have made no sense to most people.
Considering such a large Knowledge Gap, there are times when a person who is describing their futuristic technology may sound crazy, delusional, or scammy.
Today, after being contacted by a Startup, based on the words the person was using, what they were saying, and how they were saying it, it finally occurred to me today why.
The “Dream Field” is filled with people who feel justified, if not compelled, to fabricate, inflate, or outright lie in order to achieve their Dream. They will lie to you to your Face if it will help them achieve their Dream.
As of today, I’m announcing that I’m done.
Tired of dealing with people, all working against one another, within separate tiny spaces, each engaged in an impromptu dance, to one repeating song, trying, over and over again, to make their own Dream come true.
Tired of working with shady-sounding people who somehow never turn out to be who they say they are.
Sick of having to materialize into a whole new person, and dream up a brand new deal, each and every time we have a new idea or discovery.
Tired of having to create a new presentation, pitch, or demo for each new “potential investor” – who hardly ever turns out to be someone who can actually help you achieve your Dream, which in most cases, means providing funds or access to financing.
Who cares how great your idea is or how revolutionary or disruptive it will be, if you can’t finance it or secure funding, what’s the point? In the absence of financing, no one cares how brilliant you are. If you don’t have the money to finance it, too bad, so sad.
It remains just that. A Dream.
So, for whoever is still listening, here’s a Question: If we believe we have discovered a portal to another dimension, backed up with research and documentation, what would be the best, most expedient way to secure financing for such a venture?
We envision using Unreal Engine as a portal to store Avatar profiles and to grow our Mixed-Reality Legal Practice. We plan to continue using our current websites: carousel.one and telepath.global for writing, tracking, and exchanging information among Members and Participants.
Thank you for any suggestions you are able to offer.
