Summary
I am reporting a critical issue that I’ve encountered while working with skeletal meshes in my project. When I use the “Percent of Triangles” reduction setting on a skeletal mesh to create a Level of Detail (LOD), I am unable to launch a session. This is preventing me from being able to test and play my island.
Applying a “Percent of Triangles” reduction to a skeletal mesh asset appears to corrupt it in a way that the UEFN session launch process fails. The editor throws an error, and the session does not start. This issue seems to be directly tied to the triangle reduction setting, as the session will launch successfully if this setting is not used.

Steps to Reproduce
Import a skeletal mesh into a UEFN project.
Open the skeletal mesh asset to edit its properties.
In the “LOD Settings”, add an LOD.
Under the “Reduction Settings” for the new LOD, adjust the “Percent of Triangles” to a value less than 100.
Click “Apply Changes”.
Save the skeletal mesh asset.
Attempt to launch a new session to test the island.
Expected Result
The UEFN session should launch without any errors, allowing for testing of the island with the newly created skeletal mesh LOD.
Observed Result
An error message appears, and the session launch is aborted. The specific error message can vary, but it consistently points to an issue with the skeletal mesh that had its triangles reduced.
This bug is a significant roadblock in optimizing custom assets for performance. The ability to reduce the triangle count on skeletal meshes is a crucial feature for ensuring a smooth gameplay experience, especially on less powerful hardware.
Could you please investigate this issue? I am available to provide logs and any other necessary information to help diagnose and resolve this problem.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
