[Bug] Importing Apex into UE4 (from Physics Lab) Does Not Keep the Inner Material Correctly, UE3 UDK Does

Dear Friends at Epic,

#Asset on Dropbox

NathanLyer/cube256.apb

This asset was made in Physics Lab and I set an inner material so I could have the inside of the mesh fractures be very distinct from the outer surface material.

I did this all the time in Nov2012 UDK and even made some Unrealscript functions to have an option to set the inner material from within my in-game editor at any time, during Runtime!

#In UE3 UDK

import the same .apb into UDK and you will see there are two materials listed and they can be set individually

#In UE4

There is only 1 material, you can add another but it does nothing

#Summary

  • There is a loss of information and unrecoverable loss of functionality when you import the same .apb into UE4 vs UE3 UDK, the inner material is lost

#Thanks!

Thanks!

Rama

#Any update please

I’ve heard not a peep about this, it seems like a relatively simple repro

Any ETA of a fix on this?

Thanks!

Rama
