Bug Export Contours and Ortho

Hello,
I’m encountering a significant issue with exports from Reality Capture. I’m performing photogrammetry using drone surveys with RTK-georeferenced photographs. Within the application, everything looks perfect: the modeling is accurate, the point clouds are of high quality, and there are no issues. However, when I export the contours and orthophotos and either import them into QGIS or view them as DWG files in a viewer, they appear distorted, almost as if in 3D. The lines are there, but the perspective is warped.

Do you have any idea what might be causing this issue?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello @Kohzale
This bug is more related to the exported ortho, as it shouldn’t be showed as it is but in the same way as contours are (you can valid that by adding the Google maps layer)
To export the ortho properly please use Map (GPS) setting in the Ortho projection tool settings or use some other system (not WGS):

Hi Orthan,

Thank you so much for your response!

It turns out there is indeed a bug with WGS 84. I exported in Lambert, and the result is correct. I get the same coordinates but using a different geographic system. As you mentioned, it needs to be properly configured when creating the ortho. I also noticed that it should be applied in the coordinate system and output settings as well.

I’m wondering whether this is a bug or simply a different interpretation of coordinates by Reality Capture.

I hope this post will be helpful to others. I’ll leave it open in case someone else encounters the same issue and finds another solution to fix it.

Ah and,

I also wanted to add that switching from Top to GPS had no effect for me.

Thanks again!

It is a bug, I’ve already reported it to our developers. I am sorry for the inconveniences.
Map (GPS) should work, as it is already in a wanted orientation.

I think the real problem lies with WGS 84. I haven’t had any issues in Lambert since… Fortunately for my project, the coordinates are the same without any adjustments.
