Broken Tree Shadows, HELP NEEDED

Hi All,

So i’m working on creating a woodland for a VR experience I am to submit for a school project. However, when building the lighting the shadows come through as solids rather than broken up with branches and leaves.

The weird thing is when the model trees are placed the preview shadow looks perfect yet the built lighting ruins them. I’m pretty new to the unreal engine so any help would be much appreciated.

Just use dynamic light with a skylight and force no precomute light build.

The the shadows will be perfect.

If Dynamic lighting is not an option for you, you will need to increase the lightmap resolution of the landscape to get better results.

Do keep in mind that if you have moving foliage like the trees the baked shadows will not show this movement. Something to consider.
