Hi everyone,
We’re excited to share that we’ve just launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring the SOFA physics engine to Unreal Engine 5:
SOFA (Simulate Open Framework Architecture) is an open-source C++ framework widely used in biomechanics, medical simulation, soft robotics and digital twin. It provides highly realistic soft-body deformation, tissue modeling, and real-time physics.
We’ve already integrated it into Unity, we are using it daily to power our high-fidelity surgical simulator in VR.

Now we want to bring this technology to Unreal Engine 5, where photorealistic rendering and native C++ performance unlock a new level of immersion and scientific accuracy.

This plugin will be open-source, and early backers will help shape development by choosing demo scenes and influencing feature priorities.
If you work in:
• Surgical or biomechanics simulation
• Soft robotics
• XR & VR training
• Unreal Engine development
• Digital twin R&D
…this project is for you.
Thanks for reading, if this aligns with your work or curiosity, we’d love your support or feedback.
