Breaking waves and foam

Im working on a project and we are trying to get our ocean to look more realistic.
I want to implement breaking waves and foam to the project. The first picture is what we are trying to achieve, the second picture our ocean.

Not sure if relevant, but we are using Single Layer Water shading model.

Edit: The software is a simulator and we are trying to achieve realism. Naturally the ocean is dynamic and will have wind waves, kelvin waves and such, that will affect the creation of waves and foam.



Any good suggestions on how to approach this? Any resources?
