I am a Blueprint-focused Unreal Engine developer, and I am deeply concerned about the possibility of Blueprint being deprecated or removed in future Unreal Engine versions.
Blueprint is not just a scripting tool. It is one of the main reasons many solo developers, designers, artists, technical artists, students, and non-programmers were able to enter game development through Unreal Engine.
Many of us do not come from a traditional programming background. Blueprint gave us the ability to create gameplay systems, prototypes, tools, animations, UI, and complete games without needing to become professional software engineers.
If Blueprint is eventually replaced by a text-only workflow, a large number of creators may be left behind. Even if Verse is powerful, many Blueprint users chose Unreal specifically because of its visual scripting ecosystem.
My concern is not about learning a new tool. My concern is accessibility. Blueprint lowered the barrier to entry and allowed countless creators to participate in game development. Removing that accessibility could make Unreal Engine less welcoming for future developers who are designers, artists, storytellers, students, or hobbyists rather than programmers.
If the long-term goal is to transition to Verse, I strongly hope Epic provides a fully featured visual scripting solution with the same level of accessibility, maturity, debugging tools, workflow efficiency, and production readiness that Blueprint currently provides.
Blueprint has taken many years to mature into the system we have today. Any replacement should be able to offer a comparable experience before Blueprint is retired.
Please continue supporting visual scripting as a first-class workflow in Unreal Engine. It has helped build one of the largest and most diverse game development communities in the world.
