Blendshapes VS Bone Animation question

Guys one question. Is it ok to have a character with facial animations driven by blendshapes instead of bones?
That would be mostly for cut scenes for story telling in the middle of the game though. But also in-game when for example getting hit and make a facial expression such as pain.

I ask this question because it seems to me that most games use bones for facial animation. So I wonder is there any problem with blendshape facial animation.

Just one thing that comes into my mind immediately is the bone limit of 75 for mobile platforms, so face animation with bones potentially will break this limit.
