Blender to UE4

I’m trying to export from Blender to Unreal 4.10 however (only after the act of creating) I learned that UE4 does not take Blender’s FBX files that well (mostly in the materials department.) I followed a tutorial on making a bear (hopefully shown below) and it turned out really well. I was hoping to find a way to use it in my game but when i tried to export to UE4 the materials did not carry over. I tried to look up work arounds for this problem but none really covered what to do with materials that consisted of hair partical systems from Blender. Most just said that you’re screwed and you need to make the materials from scratch in UE4 (though i can’t find any help in creating a fur-like material in UE4 without an expensive plug-in.)

Please help as I would like to be able to (easily) export from Blender (though not the easiest of animation softwares) instead of having to buy everything from the marketplace. Thank you!

you would be best searching for hair tutorials/help for ue4 , none of the fur/hair setups from any 3d program is going to work in a real time game engine welll at least not for a few years yet.

have a look at the ue4/paragon live stream that covered a few of the character materials they showed some hair stuff but not the full material, though that could be coming over the next few months.

with that in mind it might be better for you to upgrade to ue4.12 as that has some of the new features for hair/fur afaik

sorry can’t help more as its not really my main interest
