I am placing down on my landscape and these black chunks appear all over. I am scared to do anything more because I will not be able to undo it. How do I get rid of these Black Spots? Do I have to Build the Lighting? Please get back to me A.S.A.P.
Not sure but just a guess is that its the texture/material and how it handles being lit. Sorry not my strongest area but it looks similar to lighting problems I’ve seen before.
Try using every layer in your landscape material on that tile, see if that fixes it. If so this is a known issue and is currently under assessment, this is the workaround for it.
I tried using every layer in my landscape material on that tile and it did not fix it. Would I have to Paint the rest of the world like I am now? Wherever I paint there is a black chunk. Or should I just undo all that I have painted and just wait for UE4 4.3 Update to come out? I cannot wait that long, I have to keep working on my game.
How many textures are you using inside of your landscape material? Also you can try to color the entire landscape with each layer to see if that works, I cannot guarantee it will but this is the method we have used here to work around this problem.
I would definitely try covering the whole landscape with the layers, then see if that allows you to work through it without a problem. We have seen this numerous times and this has been the only viable workaround thus far unfortunately.
This post is from early 2014 and many aspects of the editor have changed in that time. If you are experiencing this error, please create a new thread in the bug reports section detailing what you are seeing and what steps you are taking to reproduce the error. Along with this, please include how many textures you are using within your landscape material (a screenshot of the material editor with the material displayed would be best for this) and whether you have tried painting the entire landscape before starting to paint your details to see if this addresses the error.
