Spline mesh collisions appear to have an issue with the Default UE 5 human mannequin. The default UE 5 vehicle does not have an issue with spline mesh collision. The mannequin however, will not update collision at the start of a spline mesh, but at a certain distance along the spline, suddenly it updates, and correctly collides with the spline mesh. So it seems to be specific to the mannequin. This was not an issue with the mannequin in UE4. Any ideas?
Hi Maximus,
Are you able to visualize collision? (Idea sparked by this image)
Another idea in that thread is changing the collision complexity.
Let us know if either of those does anything!
I updated my question with an image, see original post above. Thanks!
Bump. Anyone know how to fix this as of 2025? This is a game breaking issue.
I have tested this in UE5 on versions 5.1 and 5.5 so this issue probably exists on all versions of UE5. I have not found the solution, but I can better define the problem. The problem lies in the default third person character! For some reason the legs of third person template character like to go through splined mesh geometry if there is another floor that is close enough under your spline mesh. If your splined mesh is above the floor by half a meter or more or there is no other floor the third person character will work. I setup another character who is just a sphere and he recognizes the geometry just fine, the splined mesh geometry also shows up in the collision view tab. So that leads me to believe that issue derives somewhere in the leg kinematics on the third person character
