This question was created in reference to: [ZenStore flag causes Bink Movies to be packaged [Content removed]
Hello, I believe we are experiencing same issue as above. Our Bink videos are excluded from build when ZenStore is enabled. Was this issue ever solved or is there a ticket we could track?
We traced back the problem to a side effect of the “zen as cooked store” feature in 5.6. It resulted in the Movies folder being force added to the pak file (UFS) instead of keeping it as loose files (non-UFS). CL58876493 restores the old behavior. This will get integrated in a future hotfix for 5.8.
I must warn you that the fix breaks the playback of movies when using Zen Streaming to preview\debug the project on target. We are working on addressing this problem in a future release (post 5.8).
As an alternative to keep Zen Streaming working, you can change UBinkMediaPlayer::Open. Remove the call to ConvertToAbsolutePathForExternalAppForRead right before BinkHLOpen in the non-Android part of the function (line 354). BinkHLOpen uses the Unreal PlatformFileinstance under the hood which will find the Movie folder independently on it being packed or loose.
