Best way to display 360° in VR

Hi there,
i would like to know if someone has tried playing back 360° content on something like a Stereo Layer, my understanding is that those are what john carmack calls time warp layers right? those would have a huge advantage in playing back content because it can be rendered at the same frame rate as the compositor.

I have looked into the stereo layers but those dont seem to fit right, maybe someone knows the best practice to implement 360° content and can help :slight_smile: (the oculus venues app seems to handle the 360° content with a layer, while every 3D content is visibly rendered with foveated rendering, the video isn´t…^^)
