Barriers that have a player added to the ignore list now start to show the barrier material to the player.

You can create a switch with custom mesh and material and just add the switch to turn on/show off/hide same as with the barrier. Simple fix for now then have the barrier material on empty

Yeah, I thought about something like that, but I’ve got over 200 barriers across 6 biomes/32 areas, and it’d be pretty complicated to replace them all. I’d need to rewrite my barrier manager and update a bunch of stuff without breaking anything. I think I’ll just wait until it is fixed. Thanks though!

They should fix it soon i think. idk how these things even break tbh it can be frustrating but the size of epics system its expected to have some regressions as its always evolving. Only thing i wish is they could fix something and update asap without waiting for patches ect

Although I don’t see any mention of it in 36.20 Fortnite Ecosystem Updates and Release Notes | Fortnite Documentation | Epic Developer Community - it appears to be fixed on my map. Yay!! :partying_face:

I can confirm that barriers are now working correctly in all 4 of my maps, so it seems that this issue was really fixed.

I don’t know why, but as of today they are not working correct again. :frowning: As soon as I started getting more players today I started getting complaints about the broken barriers. I’ll capture a video and post it.

Here’s a video showing that the barriers on my island are completely broken again. The player in this video has 100% completed the game, so all barriers should be unlocked for them. They’re not - even though the player is added to every ignore list.

For example:

  • All holographic barriers in the Fast Travel area should be hidden.
  • The large holographic barrier around the portal should also be hidden.
  • All 30 pet purchase stations should be unlocked and visible.
  • All 30 pet equip stations should also be visible.
  • The vending machine at the end of the video should not be locked, so its screen should be visible.
  • The jump pads should not have barriers or signs on them.

It’s not just a visual issue - the player kind of bumps into the barriers as if they are being stopped and then phases through them.

In particular, check out around 0:15-1:10 in the video. The player phases into a barrier in a weird way, and their legs stop moving entirely. Again, this player is on the ignore list for every barrier you see.

@Flak I’ve tracked down this bug further. It is clearly happening when more than one player is added to a barriers ignore list.

Please watch this video. (In particular at 2:20 - when the barriers switch state due to the ignore list changing.)
