Summary

When trying to boost the damage of shotguns from Ballistic. The damage of these is capped to 180

Steps to Reproduce

Use a Damage Amplifier device to boost player damage and use a shotgun from Ballistic. You might need to use verse to get around the 4.0x damage multiplier limit on the Damage Amplifier

Expected Result

Total damage is boosted exactly by what the Damage Amplifier is set to

Observed Result

Damage is capped to 180

In fact, ALL shotguns in the game have a hard damage cap (Except for the slug-shot heavy shotgun and woodstake). This was the result of an update all the way back in 2022. Not sure why they added this, and I’m not sure why it’s still here.

Nonetheless it’s not a bug. It seems to have been a failsafe system epic added a long time ago to prevent shotguns from instantly eliminating players, to which fails to make sense in the current day.
