Summary
After the v38.00 update, any animations you bake by animating a Character Device in sequencer using control rig, creates an error where “/Game/Animation/Settings/FortniteRecorderBoneCompression” is disallowed. This causes the animation to still “work” I guess, but it’s just a small and very annoying thing that makes launching sessions unnecessarily slower and animations harder to make. Please allow this again! Also, I think not having bone compressions also increases the file size of animations, which is not very good.

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?
UI/Tools
Steps to Reproduce
- Go into sequencer
- Place character device and add it to sequencer
- Add a control rig, animate anything
- Bake and save the animation
- Validate project in any way, and get the error
Expected Result
No validation error, and you can use all your character device animations with no errors.
Observed Result
You get the error “Disallowed reference to /Game/Animation/Settings/FortniteRecorderBoneCompression.FortniteRecorderBoneCompression”
Platform(s)
PC
Additional Notes
I know it’s a small thing, but I use this workflow a lot and it’s already slow as it is, getting a validation error every time I bake an animation is just annoying. So please fix this! Also suggestion: give the ability to create or edit bone compression settings in animations like in UE5. Thanks for the time!
