back to rendering question

hello everyone!
I am switching to UE. My rendering experience is old, it’s either CPU ray-tracing, OR OpenGL on GPU  In UE, I see different technologies that mix CPU/GPU? I need first to understand the “big picture”, for example how Global Illumination is done? Can I control light bounces or samples per pixel? What gets pre-backed and what is computed real-time?

I want to get the best rendering quality in UE - I don’t care about real-time, I come from a VFX background. Any ideas or thoughts on where to start? I am currently reading UE documenation, if this is the right way then good, If there are articles, books, etc. please share with me

Cheers

I posted this video to my channel recently. This and the other videos in the series are intended to help someone transitioning from Maya to Unreal for automotive and product viz. They may help answer some of your questions.

Thank you Evan
