AZERTY Bug: Unable to Move Forward with Z When Quick Inventory Is Open

Summary

Since the latest update, I can no longer move forward with Z while the Quick Inventory is open. On AZERTY, I use ZQSD for movement, and Z conflicts with the “split stack” action in the inventory.

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?

Other

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Set the movement controls in Fortnite to ZQSD.
  2. Use an AZERTY keyboard layout.
  3. Start a Fortnite match.
  4. Open the Quick Inventory using Alt.
  5. Try to move forward using Z.
  6. Notice that the character cannot move forward while the Quick Inventory is open.
  7. Change the keyboard layout to QWERTY and use W as the forward movement key.
  8. Open the Quick Inventory again and press W.
  9. The character can move normally with W, which indicates that the issue is specifically related to the Z key conflicting with the “Split Stack” action in the Quick Inventory.

Expected Result

The player should be able to move normally using ZQSD while the Quick Inventory is open, just as they could before the latest update. Pressing Z should move the character forward instead of triggering or being blocked by the “Split Stack” action.

Observed Result

When the Quick Inventory is open, pressing Z does not move the character forward. The Z key appears to conflict with the “Split Stack” action in the inventory. This issue did not occur before the latest update.

Additional Notes

This issue only occurs when the movement keys are configured as ZQSD. I tested switching to a QWERTY layout with W as the forward movement key, and the issue does not occur.

I also checked the keybind settings, but the “Split Stack” action cannot be customized or rebound. I am therefore unable to remove the conflict with the Z movement key.

I do not want to change my forward movement key, as ZQSD is my preferred movement setup and it worked correctly before the latest update. The issue appears to have been introduced with the latest season update.

hi @Anil_ci42

The german, deutch, looks like is setts, not correctly installed in Windows, or the US keyboard setting are over riding the European Keyboards.

Last ime this happened, we needed to switch the Windows 11 to US system and US keyboard now load the German keyboard into US version.

Restart PC

Set Windows 11 to German version, which should the updated latest version keyboard driver.

Go into Fortnite toggle between From German to US setting restart Fortnite.

Go into Fortnite settings and reset to German and restart Fortnite.

The only thing that may cause a problem is UEFN so try setting to US then back to German as fortnite gets its setting from UEFN, since the latest version UEFN6

My second guess is that the Quick Inventory is using hardcoded US keyboard instead of looking at the Windows keyboard map.

If you try this in the US keyboard and it works thats a job for Epic and needs some more votes from German users to vote this up.
