Automated Performance Testing Framework + Horde

Hey there!

I have two questions regarding the Automated Performance Testing Framework. For context we have access to Epic’s main stream, and at the moment we have merged changelist 49673189.

1) Currently we did a few tests and decided that the framework is worth investigating more. Our primary use-case will be running all sorts of tests on our build machines. We are using Horde, so that will be where we launch tests the most. There is not much information online about using the framework with Horde. I was wondering whether this direction was explored on your end, and if it’s a good or a bad idea to attempt running these tests on Horde?

2) I was wondering if you could share any possible information regarding the future development of the framework? We already have several items we want to extend/modify in the framework (support fo functional tests, removing the tests configuration from the .ini files, video/screen captures in Reports folder, etc.), so it might be useful to know what you are up to, before we do any modifications.

Best regards,

Jakub

Hey there Jakub,

I can speak a bit to this as I have been working quite closely with the APT team internally and working on Horde features around this.

  1. We are using it internally, within the context of Horde. It is indeed a good idea to attempt running these via Horde, since we are expanding some functionality around performance trends within Horde, and APT is a pre-requisite.
  2. APT is under active development, but their roadmap isn’t strictly defined at the moment. As I mentioned above, we will indeed be using it to both drive and report performance results in the automation context, which can then be hooked up to the Horde dashboard.
    1. There will be more news about this in 5.8, as this is a feature set that I am directly working on

With respect to the capabilities and feature direction of APT, I can loop in one of my colleagues. I’ll also dig up some Horde config fragments on my end so you can start connecting it in Horde.

Kind regards,

Julian
