Audio cutoff and syncing issue when using using Movie Render Graph

Hello,

We did notice that the audio track is incorrect when using MovieRenderGraph for configuration in MRQ combined with the Warmup Settings node (which is present by default).

This results in the audio being out of sync due to the initial warmup, everything is pushed back by the original delay introduced during warmup.

It also results in the audio cutting off at the beginning of every camera cut. Surprisingly, each camera cut does not seem to introduce an additional offset that would progressively put the audio more and more out of sync.

Please find attached a picture comparing the audio of the same sequence rendered from both queues.

Do note that removing the “Warmup Settings” node does fix this issue but might not be desirable as it would degrade the render quality.

Steps to Reproduce
Recreating the project

  • Enable Movie Render Queue plugin in the project
  • Create a level sequence with many camera cuts.
  • Add an audio clip to the level sequence
  • Create 2 render queues for that level sequence, one using presets and another one using MovieRenderGraph
  • Make the preset export wav
  • Make the MovieRenderGraph export wav

Repro steps

  • Render both “Movie Pipeline Queue” assets in the project (with the current setup both will produce the same Wav file so you need to rename the output file between renders)
  • Compare the audio files, notice how they differ

Hi Benjamin.

This one fell through the response cracks but I wanted to let you know that we fixed this issue in the 5.8 release along with several other audio-related problems that affected Movie Render Pipeline. Using a Movie Render Graph config should line up now. But, using a legacy Preset will still be 1 frame behind. It sounds like you’re using Graph though, so hopefully that gets the job done for you.

Ryan.

I do have a repro project that I could provide, unfortunately I am not allowed to upload zip files. I also tried 7z.

The repro project is fairly easy to recreate but I’ll see what can be done to send a project over.
