Attaching a Custom VFX to center socket. Appears on base socket

Summary

I attach a custom vfx on the center socket of the player. The vfx appears on base socket tho. After switching camera from default to first person and back to default its displayed correctly.

This is currently happening with disguise device active. But it also happened for me a lot on live playtest code without disguise device active.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Activate disguise device with custom skin (jonesy in our case) on game start
  2. Attach a custom vfx to the players center socket
  3. See how the vfx is attached to the wrong socket.

Try out switch between default camera and another one. After that it looks as intended

Expected Result

The VFX should always attach to correct socket we choose.

Observed Result

Additional Notes

It does not happen 100% of the time but very often

before switching cameras

after switching cameras

I’m experiencing something similar. I’m not using the Disguise device but I am attaching the VFX Powerup directly to the player. The issue seems to occur only when switching between first- and third-person cameras.

In my case, when switching back to third-person from first-person, there’s some odd clipping at first (as shown in my video). After clearing and then reattaching the VFX Powerup, the Custom Effect Socket resets to Base. In my case, this only seems to be affecting the VFX Powerups set to Custom Effect Socket Head and Chest; another piece that’s set to Pelvis isn’t affected.

yes we figured out if you attach it with first person camera assigned it bugs out until you switched to a fps weapon and back
