Atmospheric fog long distance

I’m having a problem with atmospheric fog having a sharp edge at extremely long ranges from the camera. In the screenshot below, you can see what I mean. This is an extremely large cube (5km sides) rotated so I can see two of it’s faces. There is a sharp cutoff visible in the middle of the right face (and also towards the edge of the left face), which is coming from the atmospheric fog (if I turn off the atmospheric fog, this goes away).

The distance from the camera to this sharp cutoff line is approx 110 kilometers (11,000,000 Unreal units). The cutoff is also visible on the terrain underneath - I added the cube to make the effect easier to see.

I have fiddled with every value in the atmospheric fog component, and nothing will extend this range. I’ve also tried setting the near clip plane, but to no effect. Is this a limitation in the Unreal atmospheric fog shader? If so, what is the best workaround for background terrain that needs to be a hundred kilometers away?

Thanks
