Atmosphere?

Is there a way to expand this atmosphere bubble thing?

Hi Drex,

One option would be to ‘Disable All Time of Day Managers’ in Window → World Settings.

You’d then want to place an ‘Environment Light Rig’ device.

I’m not sure if it’s possible to get the clouds back, but at least the bubble will be gone.

Actually, after further testing, I cant actually get this fix to work. Placing the ‘Environment Light Rig’ device allows me to see in the editor, when actually in the fortnite editor its still dark. But thats not the only issue, as I want to use things like the 'Day Sequence Device" that needs the bubble to work. The only issue there is a large object outside of the bubble that I would like to be inside so it can render over. Ill show images to see what I mean.

(i want stars in the sky, but they render on top of the ring, because the ring is outside of the bubble)

I wonder if you’re not able to see it in Fortnite because of the Fog. (I was looking at Fog in Island Settings yesterday, and even at 0% it’s still there.)

Without being able to override the fog, I’m not sure having a distant ring would ever work.

I just looked on noclip.website and they have Halo 1 on there! (Scroll down to the ‘Experimental’ section)

You can see that they accomplished the Ring-World with a Giant 2D ‘Card’ or by having it as a part of the sky sphere texture.

I originally did try to use a picture of a halo ring as the skybox, but I am quite new to UEFN and couldn’t really figure it out, and the easier option was to just make something in blender. If you know how to change the skybox that would be great!

Side note: noclip is actually sick

Haha yeah, that website is mind blowing.

I don’t think it’s possible to change the built-in skybox yet. I’d try modeling a Ring that fits inside of the sky box. (That gets really fat at the base and thin at the top to give the illusion)

Yeah I thought about this and also came to this conclusion, and it doesnt seem fun to model, but I also can see another way of doing it. Thanks for the help though.

While it might be my lack of skill, I dont actually see a way of this working because the actual world you exist in is a dome, you can see a plane.

The sky renders in on the dome, but you can see to the corners of the square you are on.

So while I could make a smaller ring for the dome, there are these annoying corners that are outside the sky.

Normally you’re at a low enough elevation that you do not see the corners.

I’m excited about pushing the boundaries of scale in UEFN, but I think you’ll run into limitations at the scale you’re imagining. (For example, last I checked planes and helicopters had a hard-coded max altitude)

Here’s a quick mock-up of the Illusion I mentioned:

Edit: I just noticed that a Cloud Pack is included in this months free marketplace assets, could be worth experimenting with.

I will look into the cloud pack, that might fix the issue, thanks.
