Sometimes. But I like all kinds of music. I listen to Russian, German, English music all the time. I also love mariachi music!
I also listen to all kinds of styles. Some of my favorites include: Mild rap, Disco, Heavy metal, Rock, Rock’n’roll, Gospel, Techno, And my favorite… MIDI music!
Daler Mehndi is cool. Tunak Tunak Tun is a funny song with a great music video. I think a lot of Indian music sounds really cool to westerners.
Personally, no I generally don’t enjoy it. The trouble with much of Bollywood music, particularly the case with the two examples in the first post, is that they’re trying too hard to emulate western music. The result when successful is that it’s only really distinguishable by the use of the Hindi language, and the music itself is so utterly bland and that it has no character of it’s own.
It’s like a stereotype of the type of middle-ground western music that’s been produced for fifty-sixty years and is often ridiculed in the West for the same reasons.
Bollywood has a wealth of things to offer, but this isn’t really it.
Awesome! You like Tunak Tunak Tun?!
I like bollywood music, because they are pretty catchy
Totally! We have a world music station here and also the NC State college radio station plays Indian/Arabic music every Sunday morning during their “Geet Bazaar” segment.
I am amazed at how many westerners do like Indian music.
I myself I like a wide variety of music, recently I have become more of a fan of these kind of music. In the past I didn’t listen or much if any of Bollywood stuff.
But ever since the likes if Nicki Minaj took over and today everything is about whose butt is bigger. Hollywood music really went down for me, I ended up appreciating Bollywood more in the end.
Example same movie Aashiqui 2 was a break from all the same movies Hollywood kept releasing over and over focusing on nothing but CGI. Yeah CGI is great but without story telling and emotion its kinda boring. Like games with top notch graphics but gameplay and story is ****, does not really make much of a game.
The guy with the sun glasses in this video according to the story is a superstar singer but is an alcoholic and ended up helping this girl become a superstar also. The song she is singing is also his song but she does not know who he is behind his hat and sun glasses. Aashiqui 2 was a really great movie for me, a bit more westerner / trying to copy Hollywood yeah but still very far from what you would call a hollywood movie

I think Bolo Ta Ra Ra is the best song by Mehndi, well in my opinion anyways. I remember it from the 90’s

Btw I take it that this is what Bollywood used to be before it became more westernized?
I don’t think they make stuff like this anymore. This song should be about 15 years old I reckon.
Aishwarya Rai was such stunner back in her prime. Doubt I have ever seen another woman with this much beauty.

Everyone likes Tunak Tunak Tun - But generally I don’t like the music but the videos tend to make me laugh. I don’t DISLIKE the music either, it’s just seems to me a kind of an excuse for an outrageous dance routine. So I’ll go neutral on the music, positive on the dancing and crazy costumes.
Except Tunak Tunak Tun… put that bad boy on repeat.
Btw Anyone ever wondered where Britney Spears got her song “toxic” from? Its a direct copy of a really old Bollywood song.

^ Britney spears starts at 0:05 seconds
And This is Lata Mangheskar very very old bollywood song
^ it starts at 0:25
Notice its the exact same song that britney spears has just the lyrics are different. You would be amazed at how many songs are copied. Just like Jennifer Lopez copies everything from old colombian singers.
For example the Bollywood song Teri Meri was copied from a 700 year old religious song. But the Bollywood one sounds a lot better cause it was easy to improve on it.

^ Kareena Kapoor is one smoking hot chick I shall admit.
Also interestingly in America there is something known as the “Shreya Ghoshal Day” in the state of Ohio that the governor Ted Strickland declared 26th of June every year.
She is what calls the next big thing in Indian Music. She sang Teri Meri aswell. I honestly didn’t think Americans liked Bollywood music or even knew about it. Because when I play Counter Strike GO or a MOBA game I notice when someone has an accent there are a lot of racist slurs accusing folks who has an accent of being a terrorist, a indian or a foreigner which apparently are all insults.
LOL I learned this recently. I mean what is a foreigner on the internet supposed to be? and how is accusing someone of being a foreigner or Indian an insult? I did ask the question and they told me a foreigner is anyone who wasn’t born in America.
I have no idea why but these folks are always Americans making these remarks LOL it always amazes me to think that calling someone a foreigner or an indian is somehow an insult. For example lots of Americans accused me of being an Indian but the funny thing is I am not. Infact Caribbean accent is nowhere near Indian, so this says to me there is a serious issue of ignorance and lack of education going on. I mean America is no 3rd world country one would expect high school students to atleast have basic knowledge of countries around the world.
Well I don’t play CS GO anymore was Gold Nova Rank at one point solo que. And after I went back down to silver master elite I kinda stopped, was too toxic and racist to deal with after a while. Weird thing is I was always in the top 3 with the most kills in every match.
I agree! Tunak Tunak Tun music video is very entertaining! I wonder if there are other songs similar to it.
These are absolutely not the same song. Whoever wrote the song for Britney Spears did however clearly use that song as a reference for the strings, if it wasn’t just sampled directly.
I just found this and realized this is one of the greatest dance performance I have ever seen in my life. From a little research this girl is supposed the biggest dancing sensation in current day Bollywood. This is the more traditional Indian dance. Not the countless westernized bollywood dances you see today. This woman is amazing…

If this is bollywood, i love it:

^ It sure is, pretty old stuff though. 90’s stuff
Not sure if bollywood still produces that kind of music anymore. I think most stuff now are westernized.
I live in india and wow I NEVER knew that westerns like Bollywood music too ! I don’t by the way (except a few). The movies too are just copies of Hollywood’s . But there are some which are actually good like walking dead mentioned here, for eg, Aashiqui 2 was awesome.
Oh n btw for those who don’t know-Aashiqui means romance
^ Had no idea Aashiqui meant romance. It sure was romance though.
I hardly bollywood but Ashiqui 2 really was something spectacular. It was one of the very few movies that was better than 90% of what Hollywood releases these days which are just remakes of older movies that end up sucking more than the old ones.
It tried to target an older hollywood style of movie and a blend of older bollywood style together.
