Are Niagara effect running when not displayed?

I am not sure what’s the best way to find out if the simulation of VFX is runing on GPU while it’s not displayed, and taking GPU resources this way (memory, compute for simulation).
I would like to create a space with many Niagara vfx and but I wish that only the one that are close to the player are running. Maybe I am overthinking idk.
