ARCore Developer Preview 2 Released, UE4 Support in Google GitHub Branch

Recently,Google announced and released** Developer Preview 2 for ARCore,** a collection of great updates to their already feature-rich augmented reality platform! The list of new features and improvements that ARCore developers can expect include:

  • A new C API for use with the new Android NDK.
  • Pause and resume support for AR sessions in AR applications.
  • Improved accuracy and runtime efficiency across anchors, plane detection and point cloud APIs for better and faster tracking.

Alongside the release of Developer Preview 2, Google has updated their GitHub branch of Unreal Engine 4.18 to support the new update**. **Big thanks to the team at Google for getting this out to the development community!

Our engineers are working closely with Google to bring official Developer Preview 2 support to 4.19. You’ll certainly see changes between the implementation here and our offering in the next engine release as well as a unified AR platform API (More info on that soon :).)
