ARCHICAD/TWINMOTION "UNMERGING" OBJECTS

Hello,

I am using a direct link between Archicad and Twinmotion. I want to be able to change the material of some of the furniture, but when I try to select these items in Twinmotion, they all seem to be grouped together and I am unable to edit each component. After looking online, it seems like I need to deselect "merge" when using the direct link... but I don't see that option anywhere. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

Hi

For your imported model, select the ellipses icon above the model's icon in the Import section of the Dock, then select the Direct Link settings option from the list of options that appears. This should open the menu in the screenshot below, where you can expand the list of options and select Keep Hierarchy for the Collapse setting. This will retain the object hierarchy from Archicad and no longer group objects by material in Twinmotion.

Thank you so much! This did collapse most of the objects... however, in some cases they are still in small groups, like two couches and a table are grouped together for example. Do you know why this may be?

Okay so here are the images of when I click on the stool in Archicad vs. Twinmotion. Originally the "keep hierarchy" was working... But I went back into the file and tried this and it reverted back to selecting everything again as you can see in the Twinmotion picture. I change the settings to "keep hierarchy" and update it but then when I check back in on the settings, it keeps reverting back to collapse by material. Not sure why this is happening.

Glad to hear that helped.

For those remaining object groupings, can you send a screenshot of the objects when they're selected in Archicad and Twinmotion? I just want to confirm that they aren't treated as a single entity inside Archicad, and that Twinmotion is recognizing that.

Thanks for the screenshots.

If you selected Keep Hierarchy, then the stools should all be their own meshes, and treated as single objects. Like you said, the issue appears to be that something is causing the Collapse type to switch from keep Hierarchy to Collapse by Material. I haven't seen any instances of this occurring before, so I'm unsure of what could be causing that.

One thing to try, if it isn't an inconvenience, is to start a new Twinmotion scene and import your Archicad model again, ensuring Keep Hierarchy is set, then keep working as normal. If you notice this issue occur again, close Twinmotion and then retrieve a copy of your Twinmotion.log file from the location specified in Where to find Twinmotion .log file. Once you have the log file, submit a bug report here and upload your log file, along with the steps you took before the Collapse type changed on its own, and a copy of your Twinmotion and Archicad files, and we can investigate this further.

Hello ,

I have a follow-up suggestion for you to try as another user was experience strange import issues as well for an imported FBX that didn't orient correctly no matter what setting was picked in the import menu. This might be a similar behavior and the solution was to delete the config file and verify the installation.

Would you be able to try that before contacting us and let us know if that resolved the problem for you. You can reference this article for the steps: https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/article/Twinmotion-is-not-visible-after-splash-screen

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Kind regards,
