So, I’ve spend time past weekend setup and upgrade the Network_Features level from Content Examples.
Now in the level it shows not just the right way to do things, but also shows what would happen if you setup things wrong(with floating text).
Ex. for 1.4 RepNotify I added another 2 signal poles to show what happen if you set a replicated variable on client, or does not check authority(leads to off sync).
I’ve added some notes on relevancy room, to let player know if a client triggers the box, server will get updated no matter if listen server’s pawn is in range or not.
(this is the correct behavior, no need to fix.)
And I added a new 3rd section for projectiles spawning, and use it as a test case for many combinations of RPC calls and authority checks.
Now, what can you help.
- requirements: you need to be at least proficient with the ideas of rpcs and replication, or very good with animation setup(see reason below).
- test the level and see if new correct/error cases should be shown, especially in 3rd room.
- I’ll then setup another room 4 for animation replications, so I want to see what should be done in advance.
(what I have in todo list: animation montage, aiming direction(sub animations), physics blending example extended with replication, ragdoll replication)
The end result would be free for everyone, so at this point I want more experienced guys on the forum to get involved.
Note all assets used should be from freely available Epic assets, if you’d like to contribute say animations for the default guy, consider making it a CC0.
