Anyone else excited with 4.5 Update?

foliage is done in UE3 (lightmass most probably),

**The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter **

which is the best I’ve ever seen in a game.

Can the same artist achieve similar results with UE4?

Not without writing custom lighting model for foliage, or creating separate forward renderer path for foliage.

Either way, it’s not something can achieve, using material editor only.

Hahaha, I have been watching “The Vanishing of Ethan Carter” let’s plays, and I have to say, GOD some fantastic foliage there. What happened to UE4? Why isn’t doable in UE4? Haha!

game, I love the graphics and everything.

Speaking on that, Witcher 3 doesn’t use dynamic GI either and that is one hell of a good looking game.

Just finished playing Vanishing of Ethan Carter and the foliage was amazing. Very well done.

@: It looks nice. Is that with Lightmass or no Lightmass?

is looking good.

Agree with you.

Think a lot of people are looking for great looking foliage using dynamic lighting and runs fast. I have not seen that yet. I’m sure it will happen.

Yeah, but is not developed with UE3 or UE4, so don’t bother much. But didn’t know that they used lightmass either… wow. Would personally never use lightmass for my game project, never ever.

Well it’s still DX / GL at the heart, the engine portion is just bolt on tools so no reason not to compare tech used. Tools that save years of time may I say, I think lightmass is pretty sweet and looks but it’s impracticle for large games unless you have a cluster farm at your disposal.

Does anyone know how to create a rig asset in 4.5? Also shooter game won’t compile in 4.5 but works fine in 4.43 and I get the error that 4.5 cant read the ShooterLoadingScreen.dll???

Do we know what the release date is for 4.5? I couldn’t find any mention iof it in the release notes.

It’s usually around the time I’m debating whether to continue my subscription or not :stuck_out_tongue:

Perfect! Nice look
