Any way to make certain actors more saturated than others?

I’m trying to make my characters pop out from the background and one way i could potentially do this is by making them more saturated(or by alternative make the background less) but im not finding a good efficient way of doing this. Something on post process would be cool, but i dont see an option to pick up certain actors to be affected.
I was thinking maybe stencils, but my characters right now are just planes with translucency, so im not sure if i would get ragged edges around my translucent masks.

Depth stencils is one way, give it a go and find out.

Also, could you just saturate the material for the actor?
