I’ve looked through all of the question (well, at least the ones I could find that are on topic) and have no idea at all why I’m still having this issue with my skeletal mesh. It’s the same old problem that we see pop up some times, my exported fbx has parts of the normals not rendering properly in UE5. I’m in 5.1.1. I’ve exported from Maya, Modo, and Blender, all the same result. In maya exported with smoothing groups and normals checked. I’ve tried all the different import settings for the mesh in Unreal, using compute, import normals, import normals and tangents, no luck. Been at it for days.
This is how my mesh looks. I even tried creating extra edge loops and smoothing the problem areas, it fixes it a little but it’s still an issue. Oh, and I tried triangulating the mesh as well.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
*Edit: I also checked the mesh in Unreal with a flat white material to see what my normal map was doing. Same result.
